Discover the Magic Within

Old Book With Magic Lights And Bright Letters On Aged Table In Defocused Library.jpg

Welcome, and thanks for visiting!

I’m a sociologist-turned-author who loves writing the kind of books I’ve always enjoyed reading: magical realism, which is stories that combine a realistic narrative with a touch of fantasy. Books such as “Like Water for Chocolate” and Jane Odiwe’s “Project Darcy” are examples of this and are among my favorites in the way they add spark to an otherwise commonplace storyline.

I’m also a big fan of Jane Austen and Austen fan fiction, testimony to my appreciation for a bit of romance. In my soon-to-be-published novel “Beyond the Dollhouse: On the Fairy Path,” I became so enamored with a minor character that I finally said “yes” when he insisted on playing the role of the story’s romantic leading man. He’s become my personal modern-day version of Austen’s Mr. Darcy.

About Me

I enjoy using imagination and creativity to write the kinds of books and stories I myself enjoy reading – and that I hope you enjoy as well.

My childhood was spent in Laurel, Mississippi, but at the start of middle school, my family moved to the city of New Orleans. Both places have had a large influence on who I am today.

I live in the charming college town of Athens, Georgia with two Whippets, Laurel and Mr. Darcy, and a difficult rescue cat named Cynthia.

Travel, reading, archaeology, history, design and working with miniatures are some of my interests and hobbies. I also enjoy horseback riding and ballroom dance.
