Witchery by the Castle Hotel and Restaurant
My recent book "Beyond the Dollhouse: On the Fairy Path" opens with Emily and Margot staying at the hotel "Witchery by the Castle" in Edinburgh. I've only eaten at their restaurant and never stayed in the hotel part of the business - too expensive for my budget.The name is based on the fact that witches were burned at the stake outside of where the hotel now stands. It has incredible ambiance, which I tried to capture in my writing. Here is a room much like Emily would have stayed in- with the discount Margot managed to pull off with her self-proclaimed "powers of persuasion."
Green Loch, Home of the Fairies
This site in Avemore, Cairngorms, Scotland is where fairies come to wash their clothes, turning them a brilliant shade of blue-green based on the color of fae attire. Emily experiences mysterious music while napping on the banks of the lake, while Margot goes in search of other fae indicators at the site.
